Travel Arrangements

Invited participants:

We welcome the participation of all interested parties. E-MELD participants should make their own travel arrangements. Invited participants will be reimbursed (for the specified amount) after the workshop is completed. Please contact Naomi Fox (fox@linguistlist.org) or Marie Klopfenstein (marie@linguistlist.org) for details about reimbursement or travel arrangements.

Accommodations:

Participants of the E-MELD workshop will be staying at the historic Hotel St. Regis, located at 3071 W. Grand Boulevard in the New Center area of Detroit, Michigan. Reservations will be based on the list of participants who have registered. E-MELD will reserve rooms for invited participants. If you are not an invited participant and would like to stay in the workshop hotel at the conference rate, please contact Naomi Fox.

Transportation from the hotel to the workshop at Wayne State University will be provided by the hotel.

Directions to the hotel:

From Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW): Public transportation from the airport is limited, so we recommend taking a taxi from the ground transportation area of the airport to the Hotel St. Regis, 3071 W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit. Fare for the taxi will be approximately $32. Alternately, if you are renting a car at the airport, you can follow the driving directions below.

Driving from the west and the airport: Take I-94 East to the Woodward Avenue exit. Drive straight until you reach Woodward Avenue, and turn right. Go under the train tracks and the third traffic light is West Grand Boulevard. At this point you will need to make a "Michigan Left": stay in the right-hand lane of Woodward Avenue, turn right onto West Grand Boulevard, and then immediately make a U-turn at the median (don't worry, it's all perfectly legal). Cross back over Woodward, and the Hotel St. Regis is on your right.

Driving from the north: Take I-75 South to the Warren Avenue exit and turn right onto Warren Avenue. Continue straight on Warren for several blocks, then turn right at the fourth traffic light onto Cass Avenue. Continue on Cass until it ends at Grand Boulevard. The Hotel St. Regis is directly in front of you.

Driving from the south: Take I-75 North to the Warren Avenue exit and turn left onto Warren Avenue. Continue straight on Warren for several blocks, then turn right at the fourth traffic light onto Cass Avenue. Continue on Cass until it ends at Grand Boulevard. The Hotel St. Regis is directly in front of you.

The first session of the conference will take place on Thursday afternoon at the hotel (View Conference Program).
